Nelson is a very meticulous coffee producer, trained as a cupper by the local institute SENA, and confident in his coffee’s quality. A government organization recently gave him an eco-pulper and stainless steel fermentation tank, allowing him to achieve a long (for washed coffees) 36 hour anaerobic fermentation that boosts flavors while resulting in maximum cleanliness in the cup profile.

Huila, Colombia

This is our first year buying from Nelson, though he is a member of the Los Guacharos association in Huila that we’ve purchased many coffees from. Like all members of Los Guacharos, Nelson is highly committed to methods that reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers/pesticides and improving his farm’s health. Coffee is not his only agricultural product, he grows a variety of fruits (mostly peaches and passion fruit), and even raises fish!
