Casa de Mouraz DAO Rosé
- ORIGIN Dão, Portugal
- Varietals touriga nacional, tinta rouriz, and jaen
indigenous grape varietals
In Mouraz, a village in Dão- one of Portugal's oldest winemaking regions, Sara Dionisio and António Lopes Ribeiro are making wine not far from the house where António grew up. They have sold wine to Noma, the Danish restaurant notorious for it's care in sourcing.
This rosé is made with a field blend of indigenous grapes: touriga nacional, tinta rouriz, and jaen. The 30-40 year old vines are grown in granite soil and spend 8 months in neutral oak and then another year in the bottle before being enjoyed by us. Notes of wild strawberries, rainier cherries with a lovely finish, this wine would pair nicely with seafood or spring vegetables.
